Stage 1

The preparation begins by cutting through the loose lesser omentum, allowing necessary insight into the operated area (1).
Preparation ends with the exposure and cutting of the hepato-esopghageal ligament, thus revealing the diaphragmatic crura (2).

Stage 2

The next step involves dissecting and cutting the short gastric vessels, which allows for mobilization of the stomach from the spleen side. This stage concludes with the mobilization of the terminal segment of the esophagus and assessing the extent of the defect (3, 4).
