Scenario Description
Ability to swiftly rotate and position the needle at the best angle in relationship to the target tissue and the most optimal angle in the needle driver is crucial for proper suturing. In this exercise the trainee must become familiar with needle rotation and handling by applying the needle to various positions which indicate the angle and position on the needle.
Instructions
- Grab the needle from the starting position.
- Position the needle in needle holder so it can fit the L1 groove.
- Place the needle in L1 groove.
- Position the needle in needle holder so it can fit the L2 groove.
- Place the needle in L2 groove.
- Position the needle in needle holder so it can fit the L2 groove.
- Place the needle in L2 groove.
- Swap the sides of dissector and needle holder.
- Position the needle in needle holder so it can fit the R1 groove.
- Place the needle in R1 groove.
- Position the needle in needle holder so it can fit the R2 groove.
- Place the needle in R2 groove.
- Position the needle in needle holder so it can fit the R3 groove.
- Place the needle in R3 groove.
Preparation
 Training module
Place the Needle Positioning and Rotation Module onto the Basic Suturing Platform.
  Training module position
Place the module in the training area in the middle position.
 Instruments
Prepare 5 mm instruments: dissector and needle holder.
 Instrument ports
Use the 2nd and 9th instrument ports.
 Accessories
Place single needle with 2 cm of suture in the start position.
