Scenario Description
In this exercise you must rotate and position the needle to thread it through each hole available, beginning with the biggest and finishing at the smallest. This motion must be done with the needle holder and from the same side. If the surgeon is using the needle holder on the right, the needle should be driven from the right and vice versa. Upon completing the exercise, return the needle to the start position.
Instructions
- Grab the needle from starting position.
- Position needle so it can pierce through the first hole in the module.
- Pierce through the first hole.
- Hold the needle with dissector on the other side of the module and grab it back with needle holder.
- Repeat the following steps until the last hole is pierced.
Preparation
Training module
Place the fin-like element in the center of the lower part of the Suturing module.
Training module position
Place the module in the training area in the middle position.
Instruments
Prepare 5 mm instruments: grasper and needle holder.
Instrument ports
Use the 2nd and 9th instrument ports.
Accessories
Place 10 cm of suture material into the needle start position.
